Sleep disorders are very common. Many of them are closely associated with neurological disorders. However, there are other states, non-neurological, that can disrupt sleep, such as obesity, cardiac problems, stress and mental disorders, respiratory problems, pregnancy, pain, etc..
The most common sleep disorder is insomnia, which can be chronic and can significantly affect a patient’s quality of life. Other sleep disorders are: hypersomnia, sleep apnea, motor sleep disorders, circadian rhythms disorder.
